I would say, you need some symbolic act that's dangerous enough to get his attention (tweak it in your own way so that this assassin knows it is meant for him). it could be anything from another person threatening to move in on his area

to just a flagrant violation of laws (like killing people he gets close to -or his next victims)

it could be very spectacle like breaking into a building and stealing something only to frame him for it. (this can act as a sort of calling card for his business)--he could even set up the rules if you want. there could be different risks people would have to take depending on who they are. it could even over lap into the other institutions such so that like the gang members would have to risk being caught in the act by the FBI but if they get past it your assassin would know they committed fully in the process of trying to contact him

you could also do drop offs for the more formal associations

like leaving little insignificant things around that don't make sense alone but when a key is mixed with a mailing address on an envelope (an address that doesn't really exist and ended up being directed to this guy) so he has to like find where the nonexistent place would be in order to find what will lead him to his secret encounterI need creative people with a good mind?
Carrier pigeons...

Trained falcons (lulz)
write a letter :)
near death experience with him ' yer u cut it '
Buy an xbox 360 and then buy Assassins Creed, and tell me where you got the idea for your story.
He should have a secret network of people who sell him weapons, pass him information and whatnot. They could arrange the jobs for him and set him up for the kill and in turn he protects them and pays their bills or something? Or if you want him to work alone, there could be a way to reach him by leaving hidden messages in certain places with blacklight reactive ink.. good luck with the story.
maybe he works top secret, has an assistant to set up his jobs, works underground, or maybe just has some secret identity, maybe wears a mask when talking to people when getting hired...thats the only thing i can really think of
I think you will have to make the people contacting him almost as clever as he is to make the story more interesting and less cliche. You should make it different every time they try to contact him. He should just be able to pick up on the most minute signs that these people send him. Try to make it plausible though.
First of all mail is not stupid.

Second of all, he could have a code or signal that others know he is an available hitman. Or it could be word of mouth.

If it is not by word of mouth, he could have a website that offers something ordinary, but people in a higher secret world of killing affairs can recognize as code for email me with a pic and description of someone you admire, I dont know.

You should be able to think of tons of things like this. Good Luck
i dont know however, have u read the da vinci code, digital fortress, and angels and demons? theyre really good mystery books and they all have killings in them, in fact angels and demons is a little bit similar to ur story. u could look there for ideas.
make it end in a bad way like he never gets caught and kills 4 FBI people to give it a new twist.
messages/letters could be sent secretly to him from person to person until it arrives to him/a specific location. Or if you've seen Phonebooth you can try that. if not check out the profile on wikipedia or imdb.
What about that he meets in unlikely places? No one patrols churches, synagogues, or holy shrines, because normally assassins are not at confessional. He could also have a partner who makes the contacts for him.
I hope you use proper English spelling and grammer when you are writing your story.

What you need is a set of 'triple blinds' to contact your 'agent' ... three to six people who know ONLY the persn above and below them, and they set out a 'sign' your assassin knows about to 'pick up' the possible assignment from a 'dead drop' that changes frequently. It would be impossible to 'catch' your assassin if the last person had to put the message into 20 different dead drops every time ... and the dead drops can be isolated or in a very crowded place where there are always so many people that you couldn't tell who your assassin is. It's 'difficult' but not impossible and your assassin actually MUST have an 'Achilles heel' or he'll be a 'super hero' ... and that never works in a 'spy novel' or 'thriller.' GOOD LUCK.
God tells him who to kill, like in Frailty.
He would have to be performing these acts on his own free will and accord. I would suggest taking the angle that he makes these determinations to act after doing his own intelligence investigations and makes a determination of whether or not the person should receive this fate...
well everyone that is employed has a boss. i mean your boss is the one who tells you to make the shots. so maybe his boss can be like someone who runs some business and the assassin meets him there daily or something like that.
Who does this assassin work for? Where does he get his assignments. Who is his handler? The person you are describing is not an assassin but rather a psychopath. How does he determine who is to die? Is he judge and jury? That would make him a vigilante. In the real world most assassins are assigned their wet work through a handler who represents a government or private agency. To contact this person these agencies would use several different methods including a pigeon drop- a pre-determined location which is checked on a regular basis by the agent or assassin. A newspaper ad with key words under a specific classification and yes even by snail mail or e mail. This is to name only a few. Use your imagination.... I would suggest you research your subject a little further and then refine your plot line.

Here is an example. I hope this is helpful.........

An invincible assassin is terrorizing the world. Important people from both business and government sectors are being killed in public places in broad daylight. Agencies from around the world are trying to access this killer before he kills again. Who is this madman and why is he killing the leaders of the world?

Good luck.......
I already answered your question once. You should have him headquartered in a flowershop. When people want to place a hit on somebody, they call him up and say a codephrase: ';Lillies for (whoever is supposed to be murdered)';.

The flower shop is a perfect cover for him. He has people running the shop for him while he is out increasing his flower business by the people he kills. Heck! You may even want to have him leave a trademark business card on each corpse he leaves behind. It could add an egotistical yet clever trademark to each kill.
