Is this proof that when it comes to national security neo-cons are about as bad as it gets?

Republicans and or conservatives have the worst record for our national defense . Nixon CUTS and RUNS from Vietnam. Iran blackmails Reagan with hostages (Carter got tough and sent in special forces until chopper was shot down) so Reagan arms Iran and the Contras.

Reagan CUTS and RUNS from Hezbollah in Lebanon when they bomb a marines barracks. Reagan and Bush arm, train, finance Bin Laden and his boys in Afghanistan (the CIA operative who was the go between said on p.b.s that he warned Reagan and Bush to stop dealing with Bin Laden, but they ignored him thus ending any excuse of “we were helping him to destroy the Russian occupation”. http://www.consortiumnews.com/Print/0917…

Reagan, Bush, Rumsfeld give Saddam chemical weapons. Hundreds of thousands die during this long ordeal (including an estimated 90,000 infants and toddlers which is more in that time span then abortions for a decade) Saddam runs out and then we stop arming him. That’s why we knew there were no WMD’s in Iraq.

Reagan, Bush arm and finance the Taliban. Bush’s go into business with the Bin Ladens (Carlyle Group). Bush’s become great friends with the Saudi Royal family, the same family which has financed terrorism for years. Dubya ignores Presidential Daily Brief which says “Bin Laden determined to strike U.S.”. George Tenant Begs Bush to be on alert for airplane hijackings from Arab students who are being trained to fly aircraft, but not how to take off or land. Congress wants a budget of 3 million to combat terrorism, Bush squashes this and gives zero, that’s zero dollars to terrorism. Richard Clark constantly warns Bush about terrorist attacks that will be coming soon, Bush ignores him. 9/11/01 We are hit on Bush’s watch and Bush looks like an idiot on TV when he finds out we are under attack, and operation blame Clinton because Bush is an idiot begins.

Bush protects the Bin Laden family before 9/11 when the FBI was told to back off Bin Ladens brother who was funneling money to Al-Qaeda http://www1.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/… 9/11. Bush tries handing over port security to countries linked to terrorism. Bush cuts a deal with Pakistan, a country to be well known to be a safe haven for terrorism. Now Pakistan has cut a deal with Al-Qaeda.

Bush tries handing over our ports to countries linked to terrorism. Bush is opening up our borders to Mexico and Canada soon allowing terrorists free reign in America, and handing over a hundred thousand jobs to Mexicans to be in charge of our cargo security, and all importing and exporting (this one is from Conservative Republicans http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?i… )

People start making excuses “we haven’t been attacked in five years. Experts then ask “what about five years and one month, this shuts up Republicans.

Americans invent a new drinking game called “if in doubt blame Clinton”. Whenever a nut case Republican or conservative tries to put blame on Clinton to divert attention away from the Republicans terror record (see above, or read your high school history books) take one shot of whiskey.

Rumsfeld sells nuclear reactors to N. Korea. Bush sells parts for fighter jets to Iran. The question is do you still feel safe? And will Republican conservatives quit arming, training, financing all our enemies? Is this proof that when it comes to national security neo-cons are about as bad as it gets?
All the while the liberal media second guessing them when the conflicts were started. One wonders how World War Two would have ended if the media of the last 40 years was in place and allowed to stir up the loser mentality at home, as they do now.Is this proof that when it comes to national security neo-cons are about as bad as it gets?
That has to be the most factually distorted reading of history I've ever seen.

Too many distortions and falsehoods and outright fabrications to waste my time correcting. But let's just say it has all the truth of a Clinton testimony under oath. LOL!
Yes and the one Republican counter argument is, basically, ';No he didnt NEITHER!'; You can just see this guy sticking his tongue out at the monitor, completely but impotently enraged by your excellent quesiton.

You forgot to include:

1. Bush's initial resistance to the creation of an independent 9/11 commission, and his refusal to testify to it under oath. If Clinton had refused to go under oath about oral sex, Republicans would have lost their minds. Bush's refusal is confusing, unless he has something to hide. We will never know, as he spoke to the commission only once, only off the record and only with Dick Cheney sitting there beside him, telling him what to say.

2. If Bush can blame Clinton for something which happened 10 months after his Presidency ended, can HE then blame George Bush Sr, for the FIRST WTC attack, which occurred only 39 DAYS after Clinton became President?

3. How do Republicans justify villifying Clinton's lack of military experience when Bush couldnt even complete a 6 year Reserve obligation? In effect becoming a deserter in a time of war?

4. The GOP Congress last year tooka $650 Million appropriation out of the Federal Budget. This money would have been used to inspect up to 75-80% of cargo coming into the US from overseas. We currently inspect roughly 3% of this cargo and some estimate it's actually much less than that, as our trade deficit increases and even MORE cargo comes into our wide open ports.

Is this proof that when it comes to national security neo-cons are about as bad as it gets?

Where on Earth did you go to school to learn history? Even in bad shape as our education system is, there is no way you could get that many facts screwed up!

1. Regan was never blackmailed by Iran with the hostages. They were taken hostage under the leadership of President Carter, and released the day Regan took office!

2. Carter didn't send in special forces, nor did the Iranians shoot down a chopper! God Lord, where do you get this stuff? A chopper hit another aircraft on the ground attempting to land, setting off numerous explosions.

3. President Bush NEVER sold fighter jet parts to Iran! This practice stopped in the late 70's due to the unstable govt there!

4. No WMD's in Iraq? Look into the New York Times archive, April 2001. Even this Democrat newspaper had proof that the WMDs were there.

You are just another Kool-Aid drinking, tin foil hat wearing, ';hate America'; left-wing Liberal nut. None of your facts are right, even with the so called sources you provide....commentaries don't count as sources of facts! And BTW, the first source you list (consortium-news), it says that the world trade towers WERE INDEED brought down with aircraft flying into them! So whats happened to the ';It was an inside job'; theories you Libs love to spout off? Can't have your sources both ways now!Is this proof that when it comes to national security neo-cons are about as bad as it gets?
YAWN!!!! OMG could your question be any longer! Boring!!!!
This is all a cover for theft by the Dumbya Coup and their predecessors.
How much did Clinton pay you for that ramble?

Lets just take a look at the Republicans real record on terrorism shall we? Now do you feel safe?

The borders with Canada have been open for a long time, but other than that very well said.Lets just take a look at the Republicans real record on terrorism shall we? Now do you feel safe?
I will never feel safe when there are terrorists that hate us and would love to kills us, no matter if there is a Republican or Democrat in office, because they don't care if they kill Republicans or Democrats..
I hope you get better real soon.
Yes well done sadly the caliber of most yahoo views will not read your facts and will turn to fox for all their info-tell.
Calm down and stop pointing fingers. Yikes. Do you really think your post is being productive? Both republicans and democrats can be blamed for various things, whether it be security related or otherwise.
why do the repugs always pick the WRONG friends??inquiring minds want to know!
Where were Conservatives' so-called ';strong defense'; on 9/11?

Conservatives want us to be glad that there hasn't been another attack but I want to know why there was such a massive attack in the first place.
The real threat to America are the very people that are in power today. The war on terror is just like the the war on drugs, the war on poverty, etc. The true victims in all these wars are the American people whose freedoms have been eroded, retirement accounts and pensions have been stolen, and what used to be a world superpower has become a world class bully with no visible means of support. If American business was truly patriotic, then all the manufacturing jobs which gave this country its economic might wouldn't be in China and Mexico. We are becoming a country of loan sharks and thieves. What happened to our honor?
Very well put.

But I must take exception to your second to last paragraph. There'd be a problem taking a shot of whisky every time some right-wing nutball blames a Clinton (Bill or Hillary) for everything that ever happened.

There isn't enough whisky in the world.
Do you really think that if the terrorists had their choice in beheading Americans they would have any interest whatsoever in the victim's political affiliation?

Do you believe they think for one minute that a Democrat is less of an infidel than a Republican?

The terrorists don't give a damn about our political affiliation.

As far as your cherry picked examples - you fail to mention LBJ's ';contributions'; to the Viet Nam war, Carter's ';tough'; choppers didn't get ';shot down'; - they got bogged down in the deserts with sand in the engines (great strategic planning, eh?) - You left out Reagan's response to the bombing in Lebanon (you probably don't even know of the devastating rocket and shelling he responded with) - and on and on and on.......

The war on terror follows many mistakes by BOTH parties - and trying to lay the entire blame on one is nothing but counter productive.

We can't ';feel safe'; regardless of who's in office - we must take the terrorists' threats very seriously.

We must, sooner or later, present the Islamic terrorists with a united front - either that, or we better just convert to Islam - or die.
Bottom line five years no attacks here.Oh and one month.
well for one thing I give you credit for at least trying to think this through, but you aren't doing a very good job. there are things you need to look up about Johnson, Reagen and carter that you have missed interpreted. go back and start over.
Oh get over the poor Clinton bit, he sunk himself, he needed NO help from anyone to do that!!

Bin Ladens first attempt on the Towers back in 1993, was under Clinton, which he was too busy to do anything about it, then the bombing of an American Embassy in Africa, then the USS Cole, many were killed, all under Clinton, did he do anything???? NO!

So, 9/11 happened and Bush reacted like a President should, and we haven't had any attacks since, so do I feel safe?? Yes, allot more than I would if a player from the opposing team was up to bat.......

Oh %26amp; BTW... your ';facts'; , well, they just AREN'T!!
Isn't this party politics game exciting.

Let's stand back a little, and take a look at the bigger picture.

Party politics is simply in place to enable people to believe that there is some form of democracy.

This is not the case. Behind elections and government is something considerably more powerful and insidious.

Yawn....

Check this out for your own well being

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/c…
People like you make me want to stay conservative.
well clinton had 5 terrorist attacks and bush had none, i thought the hostiges were released on reagans watch so he automatically gets credit for it right?
How about all the times Clinton cut and ran in the 1990's? You are playing Monday Morning Quarterback with this one. We had no idea how bad the problem was going to get 20 years ago.
with a record like this i would hide in a cave and wait for the next ice age.
Hell, conservative Republicans ARE terrorists. After 800 years of Western European legal protection, they go and habeas corpus out the window.
I won't feel safe until our government is back in order.
Yawn, listen you moronic liberal, conservative leaders are the only ones fighting terror in the last 20 years.

Quit taking our quotes too, because LIBERALISM IS A MENTAL DISORDER. We came up with that first, thank you Mr. Savage.

liberals: Dumb, no talent, whiny hacks.
looking at your 360 comments you have been defeated but are to arrogant to admit it. now to answer your rave: Republicans suffer from Reality

Democrats suffer from Delusions.
Is this a question? I will try this. Bill Clinton cut a deal with Korea and it went something like this: We will supply you with energy, if you stop any nuclear activity. Korea said OK and Bill believed them. Bush is now dealing with that result.

Bill Clinton stated repeatedly that Iraq had WMD, but failed to act on any of this information. 9/11 happened and Bush acted on this information and we all know that this information was not accurate. Thanks Bill for signing the act that didn't allow our intelligence agency to pay informants - lost our best source of information.

By the way, Richard Clarke - He failed to print the correct year of the Sudan attack in his book. Off 1 year. Maybe that is why he couldn't convince Bush?

Either way, the public should work as a team to resolve this! I've never come across a situation where infighting had a positive result. Well, maybe that is the plan?
Bravo! well said and well backed. I believe it was Adolph Hitler that said '; It is easier to fool the masses with a big lie then it is to fool them with a small lie.'; It seems that the republicans have worked this to the death, and as long as they can convince the uneducated masses they will!
I'm not nearly as good as you are at re-writing history to support polical motivation, so I'll just stick with reality.

It's obvious you blame Bush for everything wrong in the world. You are a half-step away from saying you think Bush attacked the United States and terrorists had nothing to do with it.

Here's some information you don't seem to be aware of: terrorists (and not politicians of either party) attacked the United States on September 11, 2001.

You claim Bush ';ignored'; the warnings about Bin Laden. You seem to think out of the literally hundreds of pieces of intelligence that come in each and every week, there should have been some miraculous and psychic ability to predict which ones were and were not valid and specific threats. Hindsight is always 20/20.

You completely ignore Clinton's contribution to the mess which was mostly in his systematic dismantling of all human intelligence sources that US operatives had built up in the Middle East. It took almost two decades to build that up, but Clinton destroyed it in under two years. It's possible (but not guaranteed) that if Clinton had simply left that system alone, then 9/11 could have been prevented.

Clinton has admitted his regret for not killing Bin Laden when he had the chance. However, at the time Clinton had the opportunity, Bin Laden had not yet coordinated any major attacks. Therefore, Clinton also would have had to be psychic, so he's no different.

All of the world's major governments support their allies by arming them to allow them to fight their enemies. In the Middle East in the late 1970's, the U.S. armed the Taliban because the Soviet Union had already invaded Afghanistan to steal their oil. Reagan (and the Democrat-controlled U.S. Congress) was simply trying to restore order to the region and unfortunately, the Taliban was the only option to make that happen.

Are you saying you would rather that the Soviets had slaughtered and/or subjugated all of the Afghan people? That was their intent. But I guess that would have been OK with you.

I guess it doesn't really matter, though. From your writing it's clear that you've let one side of the political battle COMPLETELY brainwash you into thinking the other side is EVIL. Nothing I write here has a prayer of changing that.

If you would consider taking any advice from a moderate Republican, I would offer the following few items: Look at the bigger picture. Don't let one side convince you that they have exclusive possession of moral authority (they're all do bad things as well as good things, too). Try to discern the facts from the news and the history books. Think for yourself.

Good luck and God Bless you.
Conservatism in the USA right now is more like a plague. And for the people that have it, there is no cure.
Well written question. At the time of writing my answer there were only two responses both from unintelligent right wing, conservative, red neck wallies. That tells a story of apathy and brainwashing, does it not?

We have all the same things happening here in Australia except our bloke just follows Bush down the toilet instead of pulling his own chain. Selling Aussie jobs overseas, importing cheap labour, supporting wars that are not supportable etc, etc, etc.

If we don't get rid of these conservative nit wits and drongos quickly we're all off to hell in a hand basket.

Actually, to answer your question, HELL NO!! I thought we were better off with Saddam than the power vacuum we have now. America's foreign policy and aggression is largely to blame for terrorism in the first place and how does Bush deal with it? You've got it, by doling out more of the same conservative drivel. God help us all.

I'll go now and brace myself for the torrent of right-wing abuse and psycho-babble that will come in the wake of this answer. Keep up the good fight.

Jules, Australia.
i think the rest of the world will agree : you made your hole, now fu*king lay in it and stop your go**amn bitching, u pansy a** mother*ucker

Why are people tearing down Nanci Pelosi....especially after she saved the economy from Bush?

';SOME'; people better get off the Speakers back about some crap about whether she heard the CIA talking about water boarding or not...WHO care!

FACTS:

When she took over in Jan 2007 this country was in a mess, unemployment, millions of people were hungry in the streets, schools had no electricity or even food to feed the kids for lunch. I can't remember but around 29% of people had no jobs at that time....people were selling everything they had just to make it by...minimum wage was around $3 per hr.

Enter Nanci Pelosi: She dumped all of Bush's laws to help the people. She found out that Bush had all these laws to hurts blacks, children and the elderly and Bush made the poor pay for the rich...HOW sick is that!

Bush worked everyday to kill and destroy everything....The speaker stopped him and changed these laws.

Caqn't you get behind her and stand with her like she stood for you?Why are people tearing down Nanci Pelosi....especially after she saved the economy from Bush?
How satirical. If you were serious....yikes.Why are people tearing down Nanci Pelosi....especially after she saved the economy from Bush?
She is one of the most illogical speakers in politics I have even heard. Additionally, I truly believe she is nothing more than a politician that knows how to sway the public to her point of view.

SHe has to be one of the worst in congress.
Your definition of fact is the same as Pelosi's, isn't it?
Not a chance down with her she deserves everything she gets + some. The rest will follow in short time.Nice to see they are destroying themselves with out any help.
Had me going for a minute. But your alright with me now. LOL
Are you drunk?
Pride goeth before the fall - that is all I have to say - about Nancy Pelosi-
Yea you have hit the ignorant nerve of the Pelosi supporters, She will not go away but she has made a complete joke of her position.

How much of Bush's policies of last 8 years were supported by republicans in congress?

1) making it harder for ciitzizens to file bankruptcy yes no

2) making it harder for citizens to sue big corporations that injure them

yes no

3) cutting funding for medicare and medicaid, for education, using no child left behind to cut off funds to schools that actually need it the most

yes no

4) not moving to assign more border patrol as mandated by law.

yes no

5) moving to get as many free trade agreements signed as possible for which the greatest ingredient was to make it easy for american companies to close factories in USA and transfer manufacturing jobs to other countries causing mass layoffs of american workers yes no

6) Deregulation across the board. Suddenly federal agencies that were created to help protect citizens and consumers were actually there to protect big corporations and harm consumers . Literally putting the foxes in charge of the hen house.

yes no

7) The war in Iraq and its continuation ...the stay the course slogan that we kept hearing over and over..even as great majority of americans wanted us out of Iraq. yes no

8) Wanted to privatize social security and wanted funds invested in the stock market yes no

9) The belief that Bin laden was not that important even though he engireered and ordered the murder of over 3000 innocent american citizens on our own soil. yes no

10) That over 800 signing statements by Bush basically amending laws passed by congress ...literally saying there are certain parts of the law he will treat differently than what congress said or that there are certain parts he will not obey yes no

11) That outing a CIA agent for political reasons was legal and right

yes no

12) Mixing govt and religion in a way never done before with faith based initiatives

yes no

13) that for years we were told the economy was booming and how great the bush economy was...that as recently as months ago we were told we were nowhere near a recession that the fundamentals of the economy was strong and suddenly we are told that we are in dire straights and that an emergency bailout was needed immediately and that about 1 trillion dollars had to be handed over to financial institutions to rescue them or else we would have a disaster worse than the great depression....this of course being told to us by the very people who just a few months back were telling us to chill that all was good.

yes no

14) That putting people in jail and throwing away the key without a trial is just fine

yes no

15) that obtaining information via torture (As described by international community) is just fine.

16) that firing of attorneys working for justice department because they refused to blindly follow directives to harass political dissidents with investigations was just fine.

yes no

17) that killing the electric car was the right thing to do.

yes no

18) that mistreating returning war veterans whether at hospitals or not paying attention to their mental health was just fine.

yes noHow much of Bush's policies of last 8 years were supported by republicans in congress?
The Bush Presidency was anchored by a Republican control Congress for the first six years. There afterwords; the Democrats regain a slim margin of a lead; but not Filibuster proof. The reign of the Republican deregulation has proven to the American people, its failures not vicariously. Failure after failure has created the biggest aftermath and legacy of the Bush Rule. Indeed; historians on a generous day; would be hard press to show favor. How much of Bush's policies of last 8 years were supported by republicans in congress?
McCain voted with Bush 90% of the time.
It's ok that you are democrat. You have a right to your opinions..... even though they may be wrong!
Ok your definitely a liberal. However I do agree with you that a lot of his policies were wrong and this is coming from a conservative. You also forgot giving 40 Billion dollars to Africa to fight AIDS I was deifinitely against that!
Look, don't get me wrong, Bush is a horrible president, just like most of them, but I have a problem with No. 6. Seriously, name one thing Bush ';Deregulated';. He didn't ';deregulate'; anything. We still massive amounts of regulation, which big corporations are the only ones advocating to eliminate competition from smaller companies. Yes, his so called ';free-trade'; agenda is ridiculous, its really just government managed trade. Unfortunately, Bush advocates the free market, but doesn't practice what he preaches, so now people will think that the free market is bad and will call for more regulation which, in reality is just central planning, like the Soviet Union, which we all know had a superb economy. lol!!
Without going through everything you wrote, I think it is safe to say that the last 8 years were full of partisan politics and Republican Congressmen and women strongly supported the President.

Should george bush be impeached?

after having a war that killed so many American Soldiers and Iraqi's for weapons of mass destruction that didn't exist. after the CIA repeated sent him letters, telling him they didn't exist on at least 11 occasions, he still brought us into a war instead of helping here on our own soil the people of 911, katrina and so on. do you think he should not only be impeached, but all the money him and his croonies made on the war, by selling the uniforms, meals, tanks etc, from their private companies to our military and country and making the taxpayer pay for it. do you think the way we got screwed, that the money should in fact be taken away from every company they all own here and around the world and give the money back to the people of the united states and put jobs, businesses, education and health care into own country?

what do you think we can all do to fix and settle this problem, obviously throwing a shoe at him doesn't so a thing. He didn't realize what an insult that was. its like saying, hey, mr bush, you are a dog!

also, should Harvard and Yale take back the Business degrees they gave him? his daddy paid for that with your tax dollar.

our kids can't even go to a safe school and this son of a b*tch is president. plus, if your president, i thought you couldn't have a past record of illegal drug use, so how does a coke head alcoholic get to be President?Should george bush be impeached?
it should have been done long ago but Pelosi is the one to blame. articles of impeachment have been read into the congressional record and she has refused to act upon them. she took the speaker of the house position and stated impeachment was off the table because she wanted to work with the president. She didn't change that course even though GWB used his veto pen to let her know he wasn't interested in cooperation, only having what he wanted, the way he wanted it. I'm happy the government is in the hands of the democrats but Pelosi should be taken down for her betrayal along with the Bushman.Should george bush be impeached?
Short answer.

no.

EYES..... BLEEDING.....

%26lt;Wall of Txt crits you for ..... %26gt;
The penalty for conviction after being impeached is removal from office. That is all. He will be out of office before anything could be done so no, regardless of what you think of him.
You are a day late and a dollar short.
He's leaving in a month by the time it gets to court he would already be out of office. This question is kinda 8 years too late.
Ask yourself this question:

';If Congress wasted NO time impeaching Bill Clinton for committing perjury and they haven't brought any charges against Bush, doesn't that mean that Bush didn't break any laws?';

Logic is your friend.
What are ';croonies?'; Is Bush in a singing group? Do they have a CD out yet? You probably think Bush should not be allowed to profit from the sales.
Yes, we should throw the shoe, I mean the book at him!
Yeah thats a great idea. Months and months of paperwork, millions of dollars spent, and lots of time wasted so that the lefties can try to prove a point. Then sometime next year he will no longer be president,... woops... didnt we have an election a little while ago?

How do you think Obama got his degrees? His poor food stamp getting mother saved and scrimped while keeping him at his poor grandmother's house so he could go to Harvard. Nope, grandma was sorta rich, but he got his degree with your tax dollars. Dont worry, he was planning on paying back that money with the sale of his senate seat.
No, he shouldn't. He committed no high crimes and misdemeanors, so even if he was impeached he would not be convicted.

I suspect you will feel even stronger feelings about wanting to impeach a president about a year or so from now.
No thanks to us he kept you butt safe for 7 years. Get over it.
Well only a month is left before he is replaced so they are not going to impeach him.
No. You complain about making the taxpayers pay for the war and yet you're willing to throw away millions of dollars on an impeachment hearing/trial. Crazy.
Um...what's the point? He'll be out of office in a couple months anyway.

Anyway, we impeached Bill and where did that get us?
No, Move on and start worrying about the one with no experience and more scandal than any other president elect has ever had. Let's now worry more about where we are going rather than where we have been.
for all your hot gas, you haven't indicated ONE law he has broken, so, no, he shouldn't be impeached.
NO. Peace
No. He's leaving in a month anyways.
nope
A criminal indictment would be better, that way if found guilty he would go to jail.
';so how does a coke head alcoholic get to be President?';

Ask Obama
Iran-Iraq War, 1980鈥?8, protracted military conflict between Iran and Iraq. It officially began on Sept. 22, 1980, with an Iraqi land and air invasion of western Iran, although Iraqi spokespersons maintained that Iran had been engaging in artillery attacks on Iraqi towns since Sept. 4.

Nevertheless, Iranian leader Ruhollah Khomeini declared that Iran would not cease fighting until Saddam's regime was toppled. Iran began a series of offensives, which proved successful enough to cause Iraq to resort to the use of chemical weapons a tactic reviled by the international community.

Who do you think sold these weapons of mass-destruction to Iraq?

It sure wasn't Mexico or Canada!

As far as the CIa goes they are the ones that told him and most Americana's on top of the news already new!

Unlike some Americans that circumvent stories they hear on the street or read in a tabloid rag, to justify the hate they have for President Bush without doing any research of any kind!

And President Bush is not a dictator, (yet) do a search of executive order he signed in 2005, with out congress approval!)

Now, the house and congress make the laws and our courts enforce them!

So if you impeach President Bush then we need to impeach most of the house and all most all of Congress!

As far as President Bushes allege drug and alcohol use, did you see him indulge?

Anyone can say anything about anybody! you shouldnt beleive everything you here on the streets!

And his daddy did not pay for his son's education by tax payers dollars!

They already had money, like most rich Americans do that don't have to take grants to pay for their childrens education.

They did it the old fashion way they earned it through hard work.

Or for the Bush family google Forrest Prescott Bush!
Has there been any charges brought against him? No? Well then I guess not. He earned his degree at Yale and served in the National Guard. Katrina was more the fault of their crooked Governor/Mayor of their state/city and FEMA than Bush. I hopr you get over this senseless hatred someday, you sound rather childish to be blunt about it and not able to carry on a reasonable conversation.
Too late. Now is the time to either get obama's attorney general to charge him and his cronies with war crimes and other crimes or get the world court in the hague to do it.

Question about becoming Airborne Infantry in the US Army?

I'm 18 and I want to enlist. I want to go to Infantry OSUT and then immediately after, go to Jump school(Is that the right one?)

My questions are:

1. Is being an Airborne Infantry soldier fun/fulfilling?

2. I want to be stationed at Ft Bragg(NC). Do I have a good shot with getting stationed there?

3. I'm enlisting for 2 years active. Will I come out with knee/hip/back problems?

4. I want to become a cop or work with the FBI or CIA after I get out of the Army. Do I have a good shot at landing any of those jobs without a college degree?

5. What is a typical day like as an Airborne Infantry soldier?

6. With Infantry OSUT and Jump school, how long am I looking at for training?

Thanks!Question about becoming Airborne Infantry in the US Army?
1. Hell yes.

2. Since Bragg is home to both the XVIIIth Airborne Corps and the 82nd Airborne Division, it's a safe bet that you'll get there.

3. Yes. Jumping will mess you up some. The key is doing the landings correctly to minimize the damage.

4. The FBI and CIA both pretty much require degrees. Police departments vary on their requirements.

5. Typical? Get up, do PT, eat breakfast, clean the barracks, spend the rest of the morning either doing some sort of training or maintaining equipment, break for lunch, more of the same, end of day formation at 1700, eat dinner, and spend some free time before sacking out.

6. Plan for 5-6 months.Question about becoming Airborne Infantry in the US Army?
1: if your gonna be infantry and not part of the spec ops community, the 82nd is the best place to be.

2: yeah you have a 90% chance of ending up there

3: **** yeah you will. immagine smacking the ground at 15 MPH while carrying 100 lbs of gear

4: get a degree when you get out

5:train or hide

- Like anything else it has its good points and bad points.

- You will most likely be stationed at Bragg in one of the 4 infantry brigades there. The 4 brigades are the 325, 508, 505, and the best of all my old unit the 504

- This is a problem in order to go to airborne school you need to enlist for 3 years not 2

- You have a great shot at becoming a cop, but the FBI, CIA still require a college degree.

- depends on what your doing, which part of the DRB cycle your on, etc

- 13 weeks for OSUT at Benning, 3 for Airborne
1. once you get to a certain rank, yes.

2.yes. try to get that guarantee that youll be stationed there in writing. you can pressure them too. dont cave in to their pressuring. but be polite at all times.

3.no.follow all procedures and try to avoid the humvees and other people in the lz.i was in 3/75 RR and i still run and all that even as a civilian.

4.CIA, is so badass. i worked with CIA SOG's (special operations group) as their security detail in Afghanistan. i dont know but i think theyll take people with 5 years active service, but perhaps if you were in some high speed group like SF or Ranger Regiment or Delta force.dont quote me on that. contact them. ask. it wont hurt.oh, if you pass Sniper School, or SOTIC, or both, then you automatically qualify for some federal jobs.

5.field exercises for a month at a time. those suck balls.no showering,no hot food, sleeping in inclement weather(there are no such things as tents or bivvy sacks or wet weather gear or ponchos, even though they issued you one or youre carrying it on your ruck but youre not allowed to use it), constantly wet from your own sweat, constantly close to hypothermia or heat stroke(heat i can take laughing but i have passed out from hypothermia twice). constantly close to exhaustion. mosquito bites on all exposed skin. heat rashes.prickly heat.you guys are lucky you dont have to iron your bdu's or spit shine your boots. i fought in the old school uniforms and ranger body armor.there's a sheer pride that you feel when your FTX's are done though.and especially coming home after 1 and a half years in some **** hole smelly fly ridden desert and youre alive and healthy.twice i did that. at your duty station:PT twice a day. clean your weapon. weapons range.cleaning your gear. no such thing as a sick day. forget about it. running sick sucks.25 mile road march every month. have fun with that! youll cream your pants when they say ';25 miler tomorrow';.what's cool is that you have the weekend off.not all the time though.dont worry about it too much. rack up your vaca time.

6.15 weeks OSUT (13 weeks basic and 2 or 3 ';zero weeks';)

6 weeks Jump school (4 weeks plus layover weeks)

if you get a ranger contract add that plus more layover weeks and at least two grueling miserable ';cry in your sleep'; months. the moment they put that ranger tab on you, you try your damnest not to cry for joy. proudest moment in my life really. then you sleep for a week straight.

be proud, homie.lol ';sua sponte';
Well, you can get Airborne school in your contract directly after Basic Training. Your duty station is not your choice though, you will go to the needs of the Army but you could get lucky and get Bragg. You could have physical problems after two years but then again you also could not its kind of up to luck. The better physical condition your in the better off you will be. There is no typical day really, but rest assure you WILL deploy, sooner than you might think.Basic Infantry Training is 14 weeks and Airborne school will take roughly a little longer than 2 weeks.Hope this helps.

What is life like for a combat controller (STO) / Pararescue (CRO)?

I am a 25 year old college graduate, and I have a few questions for those knowledgeable about either of these teams. Please respond only if you know. I am most interested in STO, but I haven't closed the door on CRO. I don't take the decision lightly, and that is why I am asking, no need to flame.

I understand that the attrition rate for both of these specialties is very high (~80%) but I have a few questions before I commit myself mentally to preparing for such a rigorous field.

1. How long can a combat controller reasonably expect to serve before their body or psyche begins to break down, if that happens at all? I have been told that there are some special operations groups in which operators typically discharge due to physical limitations as they age. Is it reasonable to expect that an STO could serve a full twenty years in this MOS, or is that unlikely? If it's unlikely, what do those who wish to remain in the air force do if they're no longer effective as an STO?

2. For an STO no longer wishing to remain in the air force, what jobs in the civilian world is a combat controller qualified for? I know that they are FAA certified ATCs, so I would assume that they could become air traffic controllers, but I know that many military pilots have enough trouble transitioning to a major airline, so I'm wondering if this is the same for combat controllers who attempt a career in civilian air traffic control. I know both are qualified for the CIA and FBI, I'm just wondering if ATC is a reasonable possibility.

3. Which MOS would transfer to the civilian world better, combat controller, or pararescue, or would they be about equal? I know this is a very subjective question, but if you could just list what kinds of jobs each could expect after military that would be great.

4. What can I do to prepare for PAST and 2+ years of grueling training mentally and physically? I don't plan to apply for a year or so, which means I have plenty of time, considering I'm in good shape now. Do you have any advice to prepare for the water portions of the training?

5. What is life like for the family of an STO or CRO? Would I be away from home 50% of the time, or would I be home unless deployed? I imagine there is a lot of travel for constant training, but what approximate percentage of time would this constitute in total?

6. How dangerous is it to be an STO or CRO? Obviously the military is a dangerous profession, but how dangerous are either of these specialties in relation to being say, a fighter pilot? I'm just looking for a ballpark estimate if that's even possible.

I come from an air force family, but my father died on active duty when I was very young so I have little guidance except to visit a recruiter. I'd rather go there when I'm armed with as much information as possible though, so any help you can provide would be much appreciated.

I know it is very difficult to became a member of an elite group like the combat controllers or pararescue, so don't think that I'm naively striving for something I can't reasonably achieve. I excercise intensely five days a week, and grew up in the incredibly rigorous discipline of classical music (the attrition rate for professional orchestras is ~99.5%), so I know what it means to work hard, and I plan to take a year to prepare if necessary. But before I commit, I would like all the information I can get, and this isn't the first place I've looked. I am already aware of www.specialtactics.com and have browsed their page somewhat, I will of course read it even more in-depth as time goes by.

Thanks in advance to all competent responses. If I'm mistaken about anything, please correct me.What is life like for a combat controller (STO) / Pararescue (CRO)?
1. It all depends on your mental attitude and how you deal with stress. These factors will determine how long until you ';Burn Out'; If you love what you do, then you can expect to make a full career out of it!

2. The jobs outlook for an STO is not so bad. You can work anywhere from a control tower to a remote location for a private security company. The money is great too! ATC's make over 100k a year.

3. Pararescue would transfer WAY better in the civilian world. The demand for a Paramedic is HUGE, they need them so bad its not even funny. You could work on a cruise liner, a major city, a private military contractor doing tactical work, you could even be a teacher! The list goes on and on!!

4. If you want to be ready, the you need to train hard! I mean really hard. You need to run, run, run, swim, and run some more. I suggest running a MINIMUM 35 miles a week. I run around 20 miles a week just for fun. Run a half marathon or even a marathon on occasion. Remember, after about the 8th mile its a mental game your on auto pilot, thats the key in PJ training, MENTAL ATTITUDE. The word quit, just simply does not exist. Before training, you need to be able to do at least 100 pushups, 100 situps, run 4 miles in 28 mins. You need to swim, and swim alot. swim at least 8 miles a week. TREAD WATER, for at least 15 minutes w/ shoulders above the water. Also, do alot of hiking with weight in the mountains. Do lots of weight training, dont get all bulky though, go for repetitions, then stretch alot after your workout. Do this your chances of succeeding increase drastically.

5. If your single, stay that way for now. If your married, make sure that its a strong marriage. Your wife needs to be as tough as you are. Shes gonna be going through this with you. Alot of military marriages dont work.

6. Every thing you do will be dangerous... see answer #5

7. If you have a year to train, you should go to the local college and get certified in EMT-B %26amp; EMT-Intermediate. Save the EMT-Paramedic for PJ school. Alot of folks fail this part because its tough. Im in it right now, we started with 30 people, and have 7 left. You will have a head start. Also think about taking some Judo, get certified in SCUBA, and heck, do some skydiving. If you dont like doing that stuff, you wont like PJ. Personally I would prefer jumping out of a plane ad parachuting to a remote wilderness cabin, and saving a patients life that guiding planes in all day.

Good luck in whatever you do. AND REMEMBER train harder than you ever have in your life. NO JOKE. When you think you cant do another push up, or run anther mile, PUSH yourself!! Good luck!!What is life like for a combat controller (STO) / Pararescue (CRO)?

Well, until you take the time to read Specialtactics.com so that you can ask intelligent and informed questions, don't count on a PJ/CCT/CRO/STO answering your questions. Every question you asked is answered on Special Tactics.

I can promise you, our schedules are much busier than yours.

Do you think i would be a good president?

Ok first off im really a guy, just cant seem to log out of my sisters YA account to mine.

Ok I just wanted to see what you would think of my views as a president, rate me from 1 to 10. Do you think I would be a good president, if not then why? What views of mine do you disagree with?

The War on Drugs- End it right now, stop funding the drug dealers and corrupt politicians who actually have drug kingpins LOBBYING for them in Washington to make them stay illegal. If someone over the age of 21 wants to do any drugs, they can see a doctor about it to get any prescribed drugs (also clean of impurities) for a highly taxed (only do to the fact were in a recession) but MUCH CHEAPER price then on the street (this way people who do drugs wont go broke from their habit like they do now). This would create jobs, end corruption, give cops time to focus on more important things, and increase spending on other things due to the fact that drug addicts wont be paying all they have to their crack/heroin dealers. Any under-age drug users, then they can be sent to Rehab. (treat it same way as if under-age person were drinking alcohol).

Immigration- If they are here illegaly, they leave right now. Anyone hiring immigrants is paying them slave labor wages, and should be forced too close down their business. Deport all illegals back, they take jobs from people in America that need them and frankly the fact theyre criminal records are undocumented is pretty scary (rapists and murderers from other countries can come across easily). Secure our borders and make it stay that way.

Abortion- i think it should be allowed for the first 4 weeks, partial-birth abortion is murder and it should be outlawed. More development into safer/more effective birth control methods.

Foreign policy- Stay out of other countries affairs, Make our countries defense so strong that we can deflect any incoming attack and work on defense, not pre-emptive wars. Dont police the world and focus on our problems, bring ALL troops home so we can save money here.

Corruption - Get rid of the FDA (allows too many bad quality medications to be sold, while outlawing natural/herbal remedies that can cure, made it against the law to CURE ANY DISEASE without THEIR Patented Consent, punishable by up to 5 years in prison. Get rid of TSA, CIA, FEMA, DOE, and many other useless/corrupt organizations that make what theyre intended to support much worse.

I was just wondering what you guys think of how good a president i would be. Would i be better then the phony one we have right now? tell me what you think, just wanted to get this outa my head.Do you think i would be a good president?
Even if I agree with your ideology, competence is important too. I want a president who can figure out how to sign out of their sister's Y!A account. Sorry.Do you think i would be a good president?
pipedream
Your ideas are fine, but can you read a teleprompter?
None of that matters, girlie.

If you can come up with $1 billion or more in a campaign fund, you might have a shot. Anything less and you have to settle for congresswoman.

And just because you wear a strap-on does not make you male, Kiwi.
No ... words are easy ... action is hard ... as the first answerer already mentioned if you can't perform a simple action like logging into your own account then you'd have no chance.
How about a 0?

War on Drugs- We want to legalize Cocaine, Meth and Crack, etc.? This chemicals are hazardous to one's health. Besides, Doctor's take an oath to preserve life not destroy it. They may still in states where it is legal(if still) prescribe marijuana, but that is all you may get them to do. You want to highly tax them, so they will still have no money and resort in the ways they get it now which would still put a burden on law enforcement to pursue.

Immigration- I agree that if they are here illegally they should be rounded up and deported. Where I disagree is shutting down the business. A lot of illegals may be migrant farm workers. Are you planning on telling a farmer to shut down operations which would force him to sell his land into real estate. Where would when than get our vegetables, wheat and other farmed goods?

Abortion- Solely, being used as a tool for birth control, abortion should be illegal period. That stops a beating heart and is murder any way you look at it. Where your idea fails, It may take up to 4-5 weeks before a woman suspects that she is pregnant. By that time it would be too late. I know that pro abortion people scream that it is their body and their right to choose. The victim here is the developing fetus. What about their rights.

Foreign policy- We do need to focus on America, however we need to keep in good standing with our allies and give them assistance when needed. We have possibly one of the best trained military's and we need to continue to build it up and give them all the support they need at home and abroad. WE also need to give Israel all the assistance needed. The Lord will bless a nation that blesses Israel.

Corruption- You want to get rid of the Transportation Security Administration- Why? Who then would check your baggage at the airport? CIA- Who would then gather intelligence that may be vital to national security? FEMA- In the event of a natural disaster, what would we do without them? DOE- Are you referring to Energy or Education? One is focused on advancing energy technology and advancing innovation and the other educating people. Without either one we stay at the current level of energy consumption or we are as dumb as a box of rocks.

  • Does The Army Have Any Bad-A$$ High Speed Stuff Beside SF and Rangers?

I'm really starting to have an interest in joining the CIA after I get out of the Army so I'm wonder what would be a good launching pad to that kind of career. Right now I'm leaning towards the linguist/cryptologist route, but I want to know if there are any other jobs in intelligence or clandestine operations that would also be suitable. SF and Rangers are fine and good, but they also require lengthy contract extensions with the Army. Basically what I'm looking to do is switch to an MOS that would be good preparation for the CIA in a couple of months, serve my time, and get out as soon as possible. How can I accomplish this?

Thanks so much for your help.Does The Army Have Any Bad-A$$ High Speed Stuff Beside SF and Rangers?
Well spend 7 years or more in the military, and that is considered a degree (4 yr degree equivalent). But you must have a special skill on the side. Do you want some cheese with your whine about that ';They required lengthier contracts w/ the army'; thing? Man, cuase what im saying is what you need. Dont be a nerd.

If you graduated ';*** laude'; from a university with either masters or PH.D. they'd neglibly think about taking you in. I dont think anyone on here will really know. Your best bet is to go privately, like learn Tae Kwon Do in the WTC program, and become like a 15th - 17th degree woky. (?or cookie)? Whatever, do it.Does The Army Have Any Bad-A$$ High Speed Stuff Beside SF and Rangers?
MI i guess since military intelligence would have you steppin in that direction, maybe your battalions S2 or a LRSS unit which falls under MI anyway or maybe CID.
    JAG

Airborne is the way to go though.

    1. CIA require degress.

    2. Be proficient in foreign languages.(Arabic and Farsi is hot right now)

    3. Not be in debt.

Also I don't think you should join CIA. You come off as one of those type of people who just want to do something for the title.

Is it Ethical to Appoint as DCI a Person with No Intelligence Tradecraft?

Most DCI's prior to G.H.W Bush had some tradecraft, if not in intelliegence collection then in military tactics and strategy. Panetta has a background as a Congressman, Chief of Staff, and Founder of a Think Tank. He has no background or tradecraft in the military or intelligence.

    Someone in Congress should ask ';Did anybody at Langley give permission for the Afghan to enter the CIA base in Afghanistan?';

Was this a decision made by field case officers acting independently from Langley?

Were they authorized to make such a decision?

What exactly were the steps taken to vet this particular Afghan before he came in the the CIA base and blew himself up killing 7 case officers?

Was the tradecraft in this case by the book, or was it at variance with the book?

Should Leon Panetta, the DCI on whose watch this occurred by fired for failure to train and ensure compliance with training?

Seems harsh. But in the Navy, if the ship runs into the dock, even if the Captain is asleep in his cabin, he gets fired. It's called accountability.

Without it, nobody in the Federal government would do any part of their jobs. It would be 6 million people asleep at the switch.

Panetta is not an asset to the CIA, even though he is very well connected politically. The DCI has to be skilled in analysis and collection. He does have deputies in those areas, but the DCI sets the tone.

In this case it appears to be a very slackadocious tone.

It looks like Osama Bin Laden's tradecraft is better than ours. He tells a mature suicide bomber to burn a couple of small operations (tell the CIA about them, so the operations get busted). Then when his man is invited to go onto the CIA base, an extremely powerful explosive vest, perfectly fitted so it does not show under an Afghan military uniform is ready to rock and roll. Osama does not have B-2's, and he does not have Predators, but he's had plenty of time to become skilled in spy/counterspy work. He knows how to infiltrate. He was part of driving the Russians out of Afghanistan, and he didn't just do it by shooting stingers. He used intelligence tradecraft.

We need someone with that level of skill to replace Leon Panetta. We do have people like that. Unfortunately none of them have backgrounds as Democrat political hacks or ACORN members. Is it Ethical to Appoint as DCI a Person with No Intelligence Tradecraft?

Osama does not have B-2's, and he does not have Predators, but he's had plenty of time to become skilled in spy/counterspy work. He knows how to infiltrate. He was part of driving the Russians out of Afghanistan, and he didn't just do it by shooting stingers. He used intelligence tradecraft.

We need someone with that level of skill to replace Leon Panetta. We do have people like that. Unfortunately none of them have backgrounds as Democrat political hacks or ACORN members.Should Panetta Go As DCI for Lack of Tradecraft?
There is also a problem with the DHS that cannot be overlooked.Should Panetta Go As DCI for Lack of Tradecraft?
I say no; you are going to lose agents in the CIA no matter how careful you are; it's that dangerous. Now, if this were an issue of state secrets getting out, then I would have a different response.

Meh, what became the United States was once a colonialized ';third world'; country, too. For around 200 years before 1776. In fact, there are lots of ';third world'; countries that have been around longer than the US. Persia/Iran has a pretty old civilization. Egypt and India and China are all ancient civilizations with thousands of years of history.

Look at Brazil. Older colony, bigger, loads of natural resources, but still they struggle to hold it together.

What has the US always had that these other places apparently never had? If we advanced faster, what held these others back for so much longer? Don't tell me it was peace, I know better. The white man didn't invent war. (Perhaps he perfected it...)

Sounds to me like too much of ';wah, things are bad, but it's easier to complain than to work to make things better, so I'll do that.'; Laced with a little bit of paranoia and some racism.

Should I select intel analyst for what I want to do outside of the military?

I was always set on joining the military throughout my life. I've done all my research, narrowed down the branches, thought I wanted to do aviation before, crossed that off, but now I'm still so eager to do it all that I cannot select an MOS. I recently took my ASVAB and got a 94 on the AFQT. I had my mind deadset on enlisting reserves, getting my degree in college, then going active. I wanted to do something like MP through college so I'd have a combat type MOS and then I wanted to become a ranger once i graduated. (Considered and still considering ROTC halfway through my college while still being enlisted, direct commission out of college, or going to warrant officer school). Problem is now my brother opened my eyes to the whole intel side of the army. This actually really interests me (kinda frustrating since i thought i finally knew what i wanted). The mos 35f intel analyst really caught my eye with the top security clearance, which would really open up an opportunity to a government job if obtained, and all the problem solving and analysis that I enjoy. But this also has the drawback of no real combat type duties which I want. Is there a way I could find a good mix of both intel and infantry type? Or maybe be certified with both specialties? I'd love to work for the CIA as either an intel analyst or agent or the NSA as just an analyst. Becoming a ranger or sf is still something I Want to do. But the intel side is really tugging at my side to see what it has to offer. I know these are high aspirations but I know that I can perform with these duties and will try harder than anyone. So please no bashing. Hypothetically speaking ';how would one be able to do these things?';Should I select intel analyst for what I want to do outside of the military?
just do the intel first and if you decide to continue after your first term you can switch to a combat role. if you choose infantry or mp first and you find out it sucks and don't want to reenlist you will have no top secret clearance and shitty work for x yearsShould I select intel analyst for what I want to do outside of the military?
Look into 35M, 35N, 35P as well. You will need a degree to work for most intel agencies, so work on that while you are at it. The military's language school is a good option if you're at all interested. Government agencies like language proficiency, and DLI is about as intensive as a language program gets, short of being dropped in country with nothing but a dictionary.

My decision about the Armed Forces?

    I'm a 17 year old boy and I'm a freshman in college. I'll be 18 in 2 weeks(Oct 1), but I plan on joining the Marines after college in 2012 or 2013.

I've wanted to join the Marines ever since I was a sophomore in high school and I still want to join as of today. I want to be an 0311 Rifleman and I have absolutely NO fear about getting deployed.

But there's just one thing I'm really scared about. 4 years is a long time, and I'll be alot more grown up by then. What if I suddenly decide that I DON'T want to join? I don't want to end up with some high paying job and decide I'm ';comfortable'; so why ruin it or something like that. On top of that, even though I was born and raised in America, my family is from India and we're hindu, so my family is strictly against violence. My family always tries to discourage me when it comes to the military. They've been controlling me my entire life and they wanted me to be a doctor or an engineer so badly but I said no. And because I decided to major in Criminal Justice(I want to work with the FBI or CIA), they cut me off and I'm pretty much putting myself through community college.

I really want to join, but I'm just afraid of having a change of heart. after 4 years. I want to make a difference. How can I make sure that I don't chicken out at the last moment? How do I keep myself motivated towards joining even after 4 years? I was even thinking of joining the Army Reserve while I'm in college. I would join the Marine Reserves, but boot camp is too long so I'd end up missing a semesterMy decision about the Armed Forces?
    Ieatcars,

You say you're a boy, but you asked your question very adult-like. I think you're a man now.

If you're looking at going into the Marines after college, why not consider being an officer? While in college you can join the Marine's Platoon Officer Program, or Naval ROTC - and go with the Marine Corps option.

During your summers you would get a taste of Marine Corps life, and the chance to see if you like it.

I retired a little over a year ago as a Naval officer. I did two joint tours with the Marines and I loved it, but that's me.

Recognize that your family means well - don't resent what they say. But you're a man, and you make up your own mind.

    Semper Fi!

';Ranger';My decision about the Armed Forces?
Joining the military (especially the Marines) requires a higher calling. If you proceed with your current plans and after 4 years you decide that joining the military is not the best thing for you, then chances are you shouldn't join. You have to listen to that little voice in your head.

And joining the reserves to stay motivated might not be the way to go either, cause one day POOF!! your deployed for a year. How many semesters would you miss then?

So, to answer your question the best way I can, I think you should stick with your plan, and revisit the issue once you graduate. If you still want to join, do it. If not, then don't. It's as simple as trusting yourself.
Stick with your plan of entering the USMC upon graduation (or go NROTC without the scholarship; experience a bit of the military world and college life, and have no committment). If you do have a change of heart (and you would be just as susceptible to have one while being on Active Duty, just so you know), it's better to have it BEFORE you enlist rather than when you're enlisted or, even worse, a commissioned officer (technically, the military doesn't have to approve the resignation of commissioned officers).
Join ROTC at your college, and if their isn't ROTC at it , then join it at the nearest college that does. Once you get the bug, you won't lose it while in ROTC. Also, since you want to join the Marines, join Navy ROTC, because the Marines don't have an ROTC, they are under the Department of the Navy.
Okay, you are seventeen and thinking WAY to far ahead. Do your college thing and get that out of the way ,THEN think about the military. It'll still be there when you graduate.
I am in agreement with these answers, Try the Civil AIr Patrol as a Cadet they are para-military and no commitment for the military, they are in search and rescue for the AF

He rings the bell and the owner appears and tells him the dog is in the back yard.

  • How selective is military intelligence?

It's my senior year in highschool and for a while now my dream was to work with high-end technology: inventing, fixing, so on and so forth. I figured that naval intelligence/ CIA was about as high-end as it got, so I started working out a goal of getting a college education in engineering and then later joining intelligence via navy; unfortunately, I may have screwed up. I have two misdomeanors on my record: one from when I was 16 (ran away from home with my mother's car, though it was reduced to a misdomeanor mainly because I wasn't driving and no-one was pressing charges) and another three days after I turned 18 petty-theft (peer-pressure, god that was dumb). The asvab I won't have any problem with, but I've never heard of someone with my background getting cleared. In fact, I've heard multiple cases of people not being cleared at the last minute and having to pick a new job title after already signing onto the military. My question is is it so hopeless I should give up and find a new path, or do I have any sort of fighting chance? So far I've been lucky enough to accomplish events people have thought to be impossible, but this time I may be pushing my luck just a little past breaking point. How selective is military intelligence?
You will likely be rejected due to the fact there is no shortage of applicants without legal backgrounds.

On the other hand, your best not going Navy intelligence anyways.

For high-end computer work after the military you will actually want Air Force.

    Here look at these.

These ones would be the a good choice.

In the Air Force you will go to MEPS and choose four or more jobs you want, as well as a basic field, you would be best choosing General or Electronics as your field.

You will be placed on a waiting list after you are cleared and once you get the call you will get a job from your recruiter, or the field, and then get a ship date.

If you were picked as your field not a job, at basic you will get to pick your job from the field, which is almost always given to you.

The most jobs the pick the better chance of getting a specific job. So if you list all those that appeal to you, and electronics field, you have a 99% chance of getting the job YOU want. How selective is military intelligence?
The biggest stumbling block is withholding information about your background. Get what you want in writing and don't sign up until you do.
From what you've said, you sound the ideal candidate for the Intelligence Community.

The vast mass of intelligence is gathered by evesdropping activities, such as those carried out at GCHQ at Cheltenham.

    http://www.gchq.gov.uk/

Of course, it's next to impossible for government to be in possession of all the nitty gritty details. Let's just say that 'ministers' are kept up-to-date with the latest intellgence gathering info in the form of a diet sheet. Thus the intelligence community can keep back any info it chooses which it does not think significant or which it simply does not wish the government to know about..

    The plot thickens.

The UK and USA work closely when it comes to Intelligence work.

    Spy me, I'm intelligent. . .

What did YOU want to be when you grew up?

When you were younger? Or even now still?

When I was 2 I wanted to be a witch, and note it was the wicked witch of the west type and not the ones affiliated with the religion. At 3 I wanted to be a pirate ship captain or a stegosaurus, or maybe it was the two combined. I wanted to be demon queen of all the vampires at 4, and at 5 I more realistically just wanted to be a paranormal investigator just so I could talk to ghosts, and the skeleton I had as an imaginary friend named Lucy. Later at 6 I got into watching the morning news stories on recent murders, and serial killers. I decided instead of a paranormal investigator I'd be a forensic pathologist or a detective specializing in sociopaths. When I turned 7 I saw my first funeral and decided I wanted to be like the tall quiet old man dressed in black who drove the dead body in the casket to the service. I asked my dad about formaldehyde, and was from then on enthralled with the idea of being an embalmer or a mortician. At 9 I found out how much a I loved writing, and art and therefore of course I wanted to have a job in both of those fields. I've gone through phases of wanting to be a wolf refuge worker, a snake breeder, a photographer, an archaeologist, an egyptologist, an astro-physicist just because they sounded smart, and I wanted to be librarian, but a librarian vigilante who fought crime on the side... or at least one that could secretly be a CIA agent. There were also spritz of desiring to be a modern nomad (come to think of it... I still plan on being one...), a hobo, a hermit, an asylum employee, a psychologist, an artistically inclined architect, and your typically charming mad yet genius scientist who would of course discover time traveling or how to turn bunnies into chocolate. To this day all these many years later (I'm 16) I still haven't dispersed a lot of these aspirations. Who knows? Maybe I'll try them all...What did YOU want to be when you grew up?
