Becoming a linguist in military/government agency?

I am enlisted in the Marines right now in infantry, but want to become a linguist eventually. I got a 99 on the ASVAB and a 142 on the DLAB. My command is giving me a lot of trouble about switching over because they need infantrymen so badly, so I might have to wait until time for reenlistment time to make the transition. Would I be able to go to college and then become an officer, with my job guaranteed to be linguist, or can you only have your jobs guaranteed to you if you are enlisted? If you don't already speak a foreign language, can you work for a government agency like the CIA and have them teach you a new language? If so, how would that work out and how would you apply and qualify for that?Becoming a linguist in military/government agency?
Officers are not linguists and do not use foreign languages except in certain billets.Becoming a linguist in military/government agency?
If your goal is to become a linguist, go for it. The Marine Corps is correct in making you wait till re-enlistment to switch over. You signed as an infantry, get the good skills, then transfer.

The CIA doesn't teach language per se. For interpretive purposes, they hire already native speakers, or as close to it as possible if it is a hard to acquire language (Urdu for example).

Good luck!
