I thought so. It's like he was beaten, whipped, and afraid like a frightened little puppy afraid of his master, if this case, the girl's father(Robert Deniro).
The complete opposite of this was ';You, Me, and Dupree';. This movie was a feel good movie. He didn't act like a doormat and he had self-respect and dignitiy and the guy's character(Matt Dillon) would not have let the father in the movie(Robert Deniro) push him around like Gaylord Focker(Ben Stiller) allowed.
What do you think Meet the Parents 1 and 2 proved? What do you think its message was?
1) He didn't even have sex with her because her father told him not= how the hell would that ever be his business? What's he gonna do, put a camera in their bedrooms and watch them have sex? If he pervert or something?
2) The father told him to throw a big rock at the bus's window to show him how tough the windows were and he did it because he was told to, when yet he knew the rental car nearby that he drove did not have any insurance on it. If the windows are that tough, of course the rock is going to bounce off and fly off at the angle it flew off when he threw it from where he threw it.
3) He went that slow spped that he traveled when he drove that big bus to his parents house because the father to drive it as slow as he drove it= this was dumb. There would not have been any harm in him driving as fast as everyone else on that road? I doubt the vehicle with it's technology and his CIA job paying him as much as it paid him, had any risks of mechanical problems going as fast as the others went.
4) I thought that truth serum the father injected into him at that party was just downright disturbing. I wouldn't be surprised if this second movie was a reflection of the type of man Robery Deniro is in real life. Worst of all, he never even got back at him for it, never even told everyone what he did.
5) The father changing his mind about the idea of that marriage was just stupid. He didn't even do anything really bad or anything.
6) The ending of the movie was sickening because when you found out that she was pregnant, from the way he was constantly whipped by the soon to be father in law, he's not the kind of dad the kid would look up to. The kid would look at his own father as a loser. You normally think of a father being more self-assured and not willing to get whipped, but this case was different.
But if you also saw ';You, Me, and Dupree';, you'd remember that the guy(Matt Dillon) would not have stood for any of that stuff in Meet the Parents 1 or 2. He was the type of guy where once he becomes a father and had a kid, that his kid would look up to.
What's your opinion?Did you think Gaylord Focker(Ben Stiller) in Meet the Parents 1 and 2 was a loser?
I think that you are looking WAY way wayyyyy too deeply into the movies.. After all, I mean, it is just a movie.. I don't think anyone is supposed to look at a character, in a comedy movie none-the-less, so particularly. It's fake, nothing to be too concerned about. You're supposed to laugh at it.
As for your reasoning, it is pretty B.S. if you ask me. For reason #1, I mean, it's called respect, if you're in your significant other's parent's house and they specifically ask you not to have sex in their house, than you don't. If you do anyways, than you're just an ignorant, disrespectful person. And I am pretty sure that they say in the first movie, that they do live together. Usually when couples live together, they are having sex.
And what's with reason number 4 and 5? How does that make him a loser at all?
I think the movie just provided the message of that people can lighten up, no matter who they are, and let their children go when they have found the one. It's other message? It's a comedy movie, it was meant to make people laugh. That's the point of it.
I don't know what disrespect is? I wouldn't want people having sex on one of my beds. Whether they are related or not. It's just disrespect knowing one of your parents or girlfriend/boyfriend's parents are in the next room sleeping. It's called something you should do in your own house. Your parent's house isn't some sleezy hotel.Did you think Gaylord Focker(Ben Stiller) in Meet the Parents 1 and 2 was a loser?
kind of.
