Hi,
I am very interested in going to culinary school. And yes, I have thought about this long and hard. =) I actually come from a family of chefs, and I completely understand how hard the job and the industry is.
My question is concerning school. I heard that there is a great culinary program in my area, but it is offered at a community college. I also have private culinary schools in my area such as Le Cordon Bleu, the Art Institute, and the CIA in Napa. Are these schools really worth the $70,000+ tuition? Or will city college do just fine?
Do restaurant owners actually look at resumes and judge you from the school that you attend? If anyone is in the industry and could help me answer this question, that would be great. You would really help me with my huge decision. =)Does it matter what culinary program you attend in order to get a good job?
I looked into culinary school too. With anything in life what you do with what you have is up to you. Remember how many people in history never had an education but have success. CIA in New York is probably one of the finest culinary school i've ever heard of in the US. But they created great students. You can always try to be a great student for your local school and put them on the map, whichever your choice.
