Is the CIA officially a Government agency?

Now I know you cannot trust everything you read on the Internet, but I have read that the CIA is a civilian agency that does private contracts with the Government, is that true? Is the CIA a part of the US government or is it technically implied that they are not ';part of the Government'; but the Government acts as though they are.

Also aren't a majority of the jobs in the CIA people behind computers, I have heard only a small portion are special agents or Spy's.

Lastly if Civilians want to apply for a job, isn't it near impossible to get in, unless you are recommended by a different government agency, or military branch. I would imagine as powerful of an agency the CIA is you would have to have Military experience, College degree, fluent in a different language, and Good communication skills to even consider you. How man people with no Military or Government experience get in?Is the CIA officially a Government agency?
Uh, yeeaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!
